13 Reasons Why Season 2 Episodes 1-4 Review
Today, I’m reviewing episodes 1 to 4 from season 2 of 13 Reasons Why.

This review of episodes 1 to 4 from season 2 of 13 Reasons Why contains possible spoilers. You’ve been warned.

Episode 1 Overall Thoughts
The return of the series starts off a bit rocky. Tyler’s testimony wasn’t bad at all and really focuses on the toxic nature of the school. I was surprised to see Alex survived his suicide attempt. It was shocking to witness it in season 1 and I wish they followed through with it. Skye and Clay dating was kind of refreshing until they brought back ghost Hannah to mess things up. Clay needed to move on a bit so he can have a productive year. A new plot driving force is introduced with the polaroids. It mentions that Hannah wasn’t the only one that suffered from rape.
This episode wasn’t horrible. I thought it was a bit slow but at the end everything cleaned up nicely. The deaths of Hannah and Jeff really rocked the school.

Episode 2 Overall Thoughts
Courtney is called up to give her testimony and we learn a bit more about their kissing scene from season 1. You’re introduced to a new character named Cryus in this episode. He becomes friends with Tyler in their mediation class. You notice the series starting to concentrate more on Tyler’s character as the episode progresses. A mysterious person begins to threaten both Jessica and Alex to keep their mouths shut. The ghost of Hannah basically blocks Clay from Skye. The biggest blocker from season 1 returns for season 2, Clay’s mind.
This episode was enjoyable. I think more things started to happen and there was an increase of drama too. You can tell there’s a bit of pacing difficulties.

Episode 3 Overall Thoughts
Jessica is on the stand now and her testimony is next to be heard. She freezes and begins to do badly while being cross examination. Tyler’s story is explored more and he meets Cyrus’ family/friends. Someone tries to do harm to Clay and runs him off of the road with a car. This preps Clay to look for Justin so he can testify. Due to the luck of TV magic they’re able to find Justin, who is a heroine addict, in Oakland.
This episode flowed well. This is probably the best episode so far in the season. You have Clay actually trying to do something rather than crying for Hannah.
Grade -> 70%
Episode 4 Overall Thoughts
Clay finally sends Alex the 13 Reason Why tapes so he could re-jog his memory. Marcus’ testimony is next and he begins telling a ton of lies. It’s super obvious and really puts a bad taste in your mouth about the character. Clay receives another polaroid with more of Bryce doing unspeakable things. This person that’s leaving these pictures really needs to train a shinobi class. They’re disappearing so quickly. Back at the Jenson household, Justin is given a quick detox. Tyler and Cyrus start to become best friends.
This episode brings back feelings of episode 1. It starts to lag and you’re not sure what the showrunners wanted to convey in the series. Hopefully future episodes are better.
