As 2014 comes to a close, there were a lot of great movies that came out this year. Here’s my top 5 favorite movies of 2014.
Coming in at #5 is… X-Men: Days of Future Past
Here’s a synopsis: The X-Men send Wolverine to the past in a desperate effort to change history and prevent an event that results in doom for both humans and mutants.
This was the best movie out of the X-Men franchise to date. It brought a great storyline from the comics to the big screen. The introduction of new characters mixed in with the old ones worked out well.

Coming in at #4 is… Gone Girl
Here’s a synopsis: With his wife’s disappearance having become the focus of an intense media circus, a man sees the spotlight turned on him when it’s suspected that he may not be innocent.
This movie brought a lot of suspense and Rosamund Pike did an outstanding job as the innocent wife. She stole every moment when she appeared on the screen.

Coming in at #3 is… Edge of Tomorrow
Here’s a synopsis: A military officer is brought into an alien war against an extraterrestrial enemy who can reset the day and know the future. When this officer is enabled with the same power, he teams up with a Special Forces warrior to try and end the war.
This movie went completely under the radar when it first came out. It grew buzz from the word of mouth after a few weeks in theaters. You would think a movie about a guy repeating the day over and over again would get old but it didn’t. The story flowed at a good pace and skipped a lot of the repeated time areas. Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt played a great team in bringing this movie to life.

Coming in at #2 is… Guardians of the Galaxy
Here’s a synopsis: A group of intergalactic criminals are forced to work together to stop a fanatical warrior from taking control of the universe.
This movie had tons of heart and showcased a publicly unknown property to the masses. No one outside of the comic book readers knew anything about the Guardians of the Galaxy but after this movie they will remember. You couldn’t help but like each member of the team. They all brought something unique to the group.

Coming in at #1 is… Captain America: Winter Soldier
Here’s a synopsis: Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and battles a new threat from old history: the Soviet agent known as the Winter Soldier.
This superhero movie felt more like a spy-thriller than a comic book movie. It had twists and turns plus a lot of action. No one would have guessed H.Y.D.R.A. would emerge within S.H.I.E.L.D. itself. The Russo Brother did an amazing job with this movie and I can’t wait to see the return of Captain America to the screen.
