The Good
Relationship between Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy
improved a lot. There’s a lot of love between them both and you can tell
it from the heart felt screen time. Gwen plays multiple roles in Peter’s
life. She keeps his secrets while giving him some valuable lessons about
science.
The action for this movie was good. There are awesome
fight scenes between Spider-Man and Electro. They improved the fighting
scenes from the previous film. You can see better fight choreography
and the essential functions of the Spider sense.
Peter Parker/ Spider-Man were decent when he was on the
screen. This might sound weird but Spider-Man really came through on this
movie. He was web swinging with more confidence. You can tell he improved
and now believe more in his skills.
Andrew Garfield made you feel Peter Parker’s emotion.
The scene with Garfield and Field really brought out a few tears.
The Bad
Electro needed more
screen time. He had to share a lot of screen time with other villains in the
movie and unfortunately it hurt his character. He just came off as an obsessed
Spider-Man fan boy. You really couldn’t feel his anger towards Spider-Man at all.
You could see Max Dillon received more pain from his douche boss played by B.J.
Novak.
The plot had too many things in it. They tried to cover a lot in a short
time frame. You have the back story of Peter’s parents, the relationship
between Aunt May and Peter, Peter and Gwen, the introduction of Harry Osborne/
Green Goblin, Max Dillon/ Electro, and The Rhino, plus the death of Gwen Stacy
all in a roughly 2 and a half movie. This would confuse a lot of people. They
should have cut this movie in half and stuck with some of the points listed
above.
The introduction of the green goblin was rushed. It felt like the film makers
of this movie really wanted to please comic book readers with the iconic death
of Gwen Stacy by the hands of the Green Goblin. They didn’t think about Harry
just learning how to use the suit and glider only seconds before the
scene. No one is that quick of a learner to use a very sophisticated suit
in a matter of moments.
